February Reading Wrap-Up

This is the first month in awhile that didn't entirely get away from me. Which is weird considering it's the shortest month. But whatever, I won't question it.

My diversity stats are pathetic this month. Which is extra sad considering it was Black History Month and I failed at that. Entirely. I forgot. I think had I remembered I might have at least gotten ONE black writer in. I'm sure I could have found some Butler. Alas, twas not to be. I should probably make a effort for March. We shall see. Anyway TO THE STATS

There's really a book out there called Agorafabulous? I'm definitely looking forward to your review on that one!

I heard about it from Alice, whose review convinced me to read it. And it is hilarious
HEY Agorafabulous. I was a huge fan of that. Mainly because I love Sara Benincasa. HURRAY!

I didn't know who she was until I read your review. So really, it's all you
I think that reading diverse authors throughout the year is better than just reading them during designated months, so you're good! :] Make them the norm, rather than the exception (easier said that done, I know).

I agree that it's more important to read diverse authors through the year rather than at one designated time. However, given my reading stats are currently ALL THE WHITE PEOPLE I apparently could have used a month where I was made to read something else. sigh
Dude, I've been keeping better track of my reading cause, you know, stats are fun! and I've totally only read white authors this year. MUST DO BETTER (I'm at least reading more ladies!)

Just to be, you know, the same, I'm ALSO looking forward to your review of Agorafabulous cause I need to know whether I need to read it! BE MY GURU

YAY reading stats!

I read it because Alice told me to read it! We will just make each other read all the books
I need to actually spend 5 minutes deciding what books to read, rather than just picking them up on a whim, because I have such a diverse and great collection of books in my shelves but you'd never know it by looking at the books I've been reading recently. So I know your feels.

In other news, I'm super keen for your Agroafabulous review.

Sometimes I have my next book picked out but mostly it's a last minute "Crap, I'm about to run out the door and need something to read on the train WHAT DO I DO?" I need to get better at planning.

Glad February didn't get away from you....yeah, if I'd been paying attention I would have read my Maya Angelou book this month. That would have been good. I'm afraid Black History Month totally passed me by too. Good luck with March reading!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that missed Black History Month. But it wasn't until the first of March that I was watching something on TV that mentioned it. So really, I blame TV for not making the month a bigger deal...
I feel like a lot of things, like Black History Month, are so easily passed by (I totally forgot too), because I'm not in school anymore. I honestly can't recall one poster, person, commercial, what have you, on Black History Month. But when we were in school, you were reminded of it almost daily...

ANYWAY, I'm just gonna copy everyone else and say I too am looking forward to your review of Agorafabulous! No really, I actually am!

I feel like there are very high expectations for Agorafabulous and now I'm afraid to post my review. THERE'S TOO MUCH PRESSURE

And YES I totally blame not having school to remind me about Black History Month. I blame TV. They should have more Black History Month stuff on TV cos I missed it...
I am enjoying how many people are looking forward to this review. YOU BETTER TALK IT UP, WOMAN.
Alright I need to add a big disclaimer to the beginning of that review that says "This will not live up to anyone's expectations of a review, so here are some quotes." The review is mostly made up of quotes anyway (because it's all hilarious [I also use the word hilarious way too much]) so I don't even have to change much.
I have to go back 12 books to find a non-white (in this case Chinese) author. Though going through my books from last year, I'm usually better than that. Now I'm going to be conscious of it.

I really really wish that my reading would just be naturally diverse without me trying but alas, that has proved time and again to not be the case.

I only sometimes make the conscious effort to diversify my reading but at least tracking it lets me know how (badly) I'm doing.
