Bookish centerpieces: I need your help

Wedding post time!

I've done pretty much no wedding planning stuff yet, cos I'm responsible like that. We're starting to look at venues so things are moving forward but yeah. For the most part the little details of wedding planning I'm very "meh" on. I'm also kinda "eh" on the big picture stuff. BUT I did think of something that I'd like to do. But I need your help.

It may not be a full on bookish wedding*, but of course I would like some bookish elements. My friend had book centerpieces which were great and I'm not saying I'm NOT going to steal that idea. Just that I'd like to add something else to it. Also at one point during the evening a drink got knocked over. DON'T WORRY, I saved the books, but it was close. But will other people be that quick if something like that were to happen at my wedding??

I saw a thing on Pinterest (? yeah probably there) where instead of normal table numbers, you use literary couples.
Book Lover Wedding
GREAT IDEA, RIGHT? Except I'm having trouble coming up with those literary couples. I have no idea how many I'd need (because I haven't planned out a wedding list or number of tables or a venue yet. Again, responsible) so I'm just looking for however many literary couples I think of.

I've come up with the obvious ones, but I know I'm missing some good ones. So PLEASE HELP! Let me know some couples in the comments. Here's a few of the ones I came up with.

Lizzie & Darcy
Romeo & Juliet (even though they're tragic and possibly the wrong choice for a wedding)
Gatsby & Daisy (cost they're in the picture so yeah)
Ron & Hermione
Thursday Next & Landen Parke-Laine (from the Thursday Next series)

What are other literary couples I should consider?

Suggestions from the comments!
Marius & Cossette from Les Mis
Jane Eyre & Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre
Macbeth & Lady Macbeth from Macbeth
Scarlett & Rhett from Gone with the Wind
Elinor & Edward from Sense & Sensibility
Beatrice & Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing
Anne & Frederick from Persuasion
Charlie & Sam from Perks of Being a Wallflower
Anne & Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables series
Emma & Mr. Knightly from Emma
Anne Elliot & Captain Wentworth from...
Tristan and Isolde from Tristan and Isolde
Lancelot & Guinevere from Legends of King Arthur
Robin Hood & Maid Marian from Robin Hood
Katherine & Petruchio from The Taming of the Shrew
Jamie & Claire from the Outlander series
Tatiana & Alexander from The Bronze Horseman
Penelope & Odysseus from The Odyssey
Parzival & Art3mis from Ready Player One
Peter Pan & Wendy from Peter Pan
Levin/Bill Weasley (in the movie version) & Kitty from Anna Karenina
Daenyrs & Drogo from Game of Thrones
Mina & Jonathan Harker from Dracula
Frodo & Samwise from The Lord of the Rings
Bill & Fleur from the Harry Potter series
Molly & Arthur from the Harry Potter series
Aragorn & Arwen from The Lord of the Rings
Antony & Cleopatra from Antony & Cleopatra
Henry & Clare from The Time Traveler's Wife
Jo & Laurie from Little Women
Florentino & Fermina from Love in the Time of Cholera
Anna & Vronsky from Anna Karenina
Hermia & Lysander from A Midsummer Night's Dream

*My idea to get married in a bookstore was veto-ed even though it's an amazing idea, although they probably have a point because I'd inevitably get distracted. I'll be sitting on the ground reading something while people tell me I'm supposed to cut the cake or whatever other wedding things you're supposed to do.

Cathy and Heathcliff? Oh shit, wait a minute...

Hahaha, OK for reals I love this. So let's see...

Marius and Cosette? (Although, poor Eponine...)
Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester?
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth? (Also bad...)
Scarlett and Rhett?

Ok, this is way harder than I thought it would be. I'm going to have to keep adding to my comment. Also apparently I only read love stories if they're REALLY F'd up. So that's not good!

Such a cute idea!! Love it!

Lets see:
Emma and Mr. Knightly
Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth
Tristan and Isolde
Lancelot and Guinevere
Robin Hood and Maid Marian
Katherine and Petruchio

Good luck with all the wedding planning!

Aww, that is such a cute idea! Unfortunately I can think of some couples, but they're not exactly famous couples and I don't know if you've read the books.... Laura took all the good famous couples :-P

Jamie & Claire (Outlander)
Tatiana & Alexander (The Bronze Horseman)
all the other, less-popular Austen couples
Odysseus & Penelope (The Odyssey)

...Wow yeah that's hard. Does it have to be couples, or could the table "numbers" be romantic literary quotes, or places, or book titles? Or are there any couples from books that's aren't classics or super popular but that you've read and liked?

You should definitely find a way to incorporate the quote, "Reader, I married him" from Jane Eyre. I wanted to invite one of my English professors just so I could have somebody to use it on. Also, Bella and Edward (kidding, oh god kidding so hard)? If I come up with a real suggestion, I'll add it later.

Parzival and Art3mis? (Ready Player One)
Peter Pan and Wendy?
Levin and _name_? (the other couple in Anna Karenina, I just watched the movie so I don't actually know how much they're in the book BUT HE'S PLAYED BY BILL WEASLEY)
Daenyrs and Drogo (Game of Thrones)
Mina and Jonathan Harker (Dracula)
Frodo and Samwise (right?!)

Sorry, really scraping the barrel there, it's hard to find a couple that didn't die or get ripped to shreds or end up broken hearted.

Haha! We are soooo similar. I was so "eh" and "meh" too ;)

I second (or third, I dunno I didn't read all the comments yet), Claire and Jamie! And one of my favorite literary couples is Henry and Clare from The Time Traveler's Wife.

I think it's okay if they are tragic couples, because it's all about their love, right?? I mean, wouldn't we all rather experience true love than to not have loved at all?? ;)

Exactly! You're more likely to remember the fun than the billion tiny details, anyway. And you HAVE to have fun on your wedding day!
Fuck whoever suggested Time Traveler's Wife. I'm not even looking to see who it is. But I see from two up that Kate & Petruchio's discouraged, which I TOTALLY agree with. But Jo/Laurie? No one? Also I don't know how many people know the Thursday Next pairing. I read The Eyre Affair liiiike nine years ago? And no idea.

And wtf is The Bronze Horseman?

I'm super-ashamed I can't really think of people who haven't been suggested. It'll come to me later in a flash of embarrassment at not having thought of it before.

Ooooh, I love this! What about Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza from Love in the Time of Cholera? Or Anna and Vronsky from Anna Karenina (too doomed?)? Or Hermia and Lysander from Midsummer Night's Dream.

I did book centerpieces but never thought of the table names (we just had boring ol' numbers). Also, good friend and fellow blogger Emily had a ton of bookish wedding details (including book centerpieces): http://listenerextraordinaire.com/2013/01/31/a-bo...

My best friend got married in a library...well, technically, in a event hall that was connected to a library. But still. Pretty awesome.

I love bookish weddings. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Oh, and HP SPOILER, but what about including some of those couples? Ron & Hermoine, Harry & Ginny--I mean, if people at your wedding haven't read all the HP books, they should be ashamed anyway. :)

I love the bookish centerpieces idea. I got married 3 years ago and our centerpieces were stacks of old books (mainly from library book sales and goodwill. Each table had a different author's name (one of my favorites) with a framed favorite quote of theirs that I wrote out on a sheet with stamped leaves. I love how it turned out. There were small tea lights around the centerpieces and at one point someone knocked one over and the books went up in flames! It was put out quickly and it all worked out ok.
