Where I've Been

OK so as you have probably noticed, I haven't posted much. And I have an excuse. I mean, it's a good one. I wasn't going to say anything here since I don't talk a huge amount about my personal life but I feel like I should explain.

I'm pregnant!
Just about 6 mos along now. We're not posting anything about it to social. I mean, it's not a secret or anything but we just decided to keep it from there. Besides, my social media is a curated collection of ridiculous gifs, book news, food pictures, random resistance posts, and bitching about public transportation. I have an image to maintain and all.

And with that I wasn't originally planning on saying anything on the blog until Thor (I've been calling the fetus Thor since the beginning since we don't plan on sharing the name til he's here and it often feels like there's a god of thunder in there) gets here. But I also thought I would keep up with my my normal blogging schedule because why would things change?
Yeah...that's fair
Instead, hahaha, turns out this pregnancy thing is a lot of work. Or at least it feels like a lot of work as I am exhausted all the time. And nauseous a lot (though getting better. More good days than bad but still...). And heartburn. And weird pains. And did I mention exhausted? So after a long day at work (which seems to be OMG SO BUSY ALL THE TIME) I don't have the energy to do much more than watch (and rewatch) The Great British Bake-Off and play Sudoko on my phone. Things that require very little brain function. Which includes writing here (and even comments on other people's posts, as I'm sure you'll notice me commenting on posts of yours that are like a month old). I try to write posts on the weekend but since I get nothing done during the week, weekends tend to be busy with the same level of weekday exhaustion.

So this is to say I haven't been around but I have a good excuse and it may take some time til I'm back to a normal (or new normal) schedule BUT I will be back here posting. I like writing about books. I'm still reading. I love reading other people's blog posts and commenting on them and this community is just the best.

YAYYYYYYY like I know I have already said this but I want to reiterate YAYYYYYYY! And no surprise at all that you haven't had energy for blogging. You are incubating a human!

And this incubating takes SO MUCH WORK. I know it looks like I'm just sitting there (cos at least 80% of the time, I am) but wow
YAY baby announcement! I'm like a week late to this and I am not even growing a baby so what even is my deal. SO INCREDIBLY VERY HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR YOU, can't wait for all the baby pics T. B. H.

Congrats!!!!!
You're right: that is a great excuse! Which shames those of us who do not have anything like a great excuse like that for not even having left a comment more than two weeks later. But I'm happy you shared your news with us! Wishing you all good things.

Haha NO SHAME HERE. Shame free zone. also thank ya!!
OMG! Congratulations!
Sorry I didn't read this sooner. Life has taken me away from my favourite blogs :(
I'm super happy for you. You must be even more tired by now. Sleep was my favourite thing with both pregnancies, though also pre-natal yoga and pastries. Also spicy meat. Pregnancy is weird...and a lot of work. You're creating a new human it there!

Thank you!! and seriously NO NEED for apologies getting to stuff late. At this point I'm embarrassed to go through old posts. SO LONG

I have been so tired (both exhausted, I'm falling asleep and just mentally exhausted). Pregnancy is SO WEIRD. I cannot get over that. It's the weirdest and so much work and I very much look forward to him being out here.
I know what you mean about going through Old Posts...

I hope you're getting lots of sleep. You're going to need it :P
I found wrapping my mind around the idea of being a parent part of what made me so tired, excited, but tired. You just want to be so prepared, but each baby/pregnancy/situation is different.

A few unsolicited tips:
If you keep your feet up, they don't swell as much. Also, don't be surprised if your shoes stretch.
Your body temp goes up when you're pregnant (I remember sweating in March), so just dress how you feel.
Embrace the hormones. This is the only time you can snap at people, then be like, oops! hormones! I was definitely bitchier when pregnant and also super weepy. I also didn't give an eff. I cried during a Star Trek movie, so, whatever.
Don't be surprised if some of your "pregnancy" symptoms extend post-partum. They can spike right after birth. It's part of the process.
That's it for now. Sorry if it's tmi. I wish people told me more when I was pregnant, because I want to know and be prepared. I had a cousin who told me after that they "didn't want to scare me". Really? It's not like finding out about crying over McDonald's commercials was going to suddenly make me not want to have my baby. So, sometimes I go on too much when it comes to pregnancies... sorry!
I welcome and accept advice and tips! I do not know what I am doing at all. And I will keep all of these in mind, especially the idea that some of the symptoms can/will stick around AFTER the birth. If there is anything else you feel like sharing (either in comments or if you want to send in an email) I am ALL EARS.
Emails are probably better. Not sure visitors want to read about lost sponges and hemorrhoids.
